Entertainment information journal Variety reported on Sunday that ASMIK Ace and Fortissimo will display screen Masaaki Yuasa‘s INU-OH, the musical anime function movie of Hideo Furukawa‘s Heike Monogatari: INU-OH no Maki (Tales of the Heike: Inu-Oh) novel, worldwide.

ASMIK Ace will launch the movie in Asia, North America, France, the U.Ok, and Benelux. The corporations have bought the screening rights of the movie to Sun Distribution for Latin America, Rapid Eye for Germany, Front Row for the Middle East, and Cinemaran for Spain.

The movie will open in Japan in May 28.

Tasuku Emoto, Kenjiro Tsuda, and Yutaka Matsushige play Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, INU-OH‘s father, and Tomona’s father, respectively. Avu-chan of the Queen Bee rock band performs INU-OH, and Mirai Moriyama performs Tomona.

The movie made its world premiere within the 78th Venice International Film Festival in September 2021, and it was the primary 2D Japanese movie to compete within the Venice International Film Festival’s Horizons class. The movie screened on the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which was held from October to November final yr. The movie received the Special Distinction Prize within the International Competition – Feature Film class award on the twenty third Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF).
