Muse Asia revealed on Wednesday that it has licensed the anime of Keigo Maki‘s romantic comedy manga Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie (Kawaii Dake Ja Nai Shikimori-san). The firm will announce distribution particulars at a later date.

The anime will premiere in Japan on Asahi Broadcasting, TV Asahi, and 22 affiliated networks on the ANiMAZiNG!!! block on April 9.

The anime stars:

  • Saori Ōnishi as Shikimori
  • Shūichirō Umeda as Izumi
  • Misato Matsuoka as Nekozaki
  • Rina Hidaka as Hachimitsu
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Inuzuka

Ryota Itoh (My Senpai Is Annoying) is directing the anime at Doga Kobo with Shōhei Yamanaka as assistant director. Yoshimi Narita (HappinessCharge PreCure!, Our love has all the time been 10 centimeters aside., My Senpai Is Annoying) is answerable for the sequence scripts. Ai Kikuchi (Engaged to the Unidentified, New Game!, How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?) is designing the characters. Nasuo☆ will carry out the opening theme music, whereas Yuki Nakashima will carry out the ending music.

Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga in English, and it describes the story:

Shikimori looks as if the right girlfriend: cute, enjoyable to be round, candy when she needs to be… however she has a cool darkish facet that comes out underneath the best circumstances. And her boyfriend Izumi likes to be round when that occurs! A enjoyable and humorous highschool romance with a sassy twist good for followers of Nagatoro-san and Komi Can’t Communicate!

Maki launched the continuing manga on the Magazine Pocket app in February 2019.
