Release Details
The second Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film, titled Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senkō no Hathaway – Circe no Majo), will open in the Philippines on May 23 through SM Cinema.
Japanese Premiere
The movie debuted in Japan on January 30, 2026, playing on 365 screens. Originally slated for a 2025 release, it was postponed twice before finally arriving in early 2026. In its opening weekend it topped the box office, selling 511,500 tickets and grossing ¥849,068,760 (≈ US$5.43 million) in the first three days.
Story Synopsis
According to Bandai Namco Filmworks, the plot follows Hathaway as he wrestles with lingering feelings for Gigi while carrying out a mission for MAFTY. Kenneth prepares to suppress MAFTY, and Gigi’s involvement will dramatically reshape the destinies of both men in a space‑opera blend of drama, combat, and emotional depth.

Music
The opening theme is “Snooze” (2022) by American R&B artist SZA. The insert song “ENDROLL” is performed by SennaRin with Yōhei Kawakami of Alexandros. The ending theme uses Guns N’ Roses’ classic 1988 hit “Sweet Child o’ Mine.”
Production Notes
Director Shukō Murase previously hinted that the sequel might not appear before 2024. Producer Naohiro Ogata revealed plans for the next stage of the series in Australia, though COVID‑19 restrictions have complicated location scouting.
The film is the second part of a planned trilogy. Its working title, Kidō Senshi Gundam Senkō no Hathaway: San of Bright, plays on the Japanese word “San,” which can mean “sun” or “son,” referencing Hathaway Noa as the son of Bright Noa. The story will diverge in several ways from Yoshiyuki Tomino’s original novel.
Background
The first Hathaway film faced multiple delays before finally opening in Japan in June 2021. Despite the setbacks, it earned ¥2.21 billion (≈ US$19.6 million), becoming the first Gundam film since 1988’s Char’s Counterattack to surpass ¥1 billion. A four‑episode TV recut aired on Nippon TV’s AnichU block beginning January 5.
