SNK has begun streaming a new trailer for the fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, confirming that the game’s third season will launch on July 23. Over the following six months, six new characters will join the roster, with the studio teasing the additions earlier in the week through an animated video.
The trailer confirms Rick Strowd for July, Duck King in August, Kim Kaphwan in September, and Laocorn in November. Two additional mystery characters are scheduled for October and December, rounding out the season’s lineup.
The new season follows a steady cadence of DLC releases that began earlier this year. Kim Jae Hoon, the first character in Season Pass 2, launched on January 22, followed by Nightmare Geese on February 26 and Blue Mary on March 26. Wolfgang Krauser debuted on April 24, coinciding with the game’s first anniversary, while Mr. Karate launched on May 27. Kenshiro, the hero of Fist of the North Star, joined the roster most recently on June 28.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves first debuted in April 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game’s crossover with Street Fighter brought Ken and Chun-Li into the roster as part of Season Pass 1, alongside returning Fatal Fury favorites Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, and MR. BIG. Other playable additions have included real-life figures DJ Salvatore Ganacci and professional soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Hokutomaru.
The base roster features long-standing Fatal Fury characters such as Terry Bogard, Rock Howard, Tizoc, Hotaru Futaba, Marco Rodrigues, B. Jenet, Kevin Rian, Billy Kane, Mai Shiranui, Kim Dong Hwan, and Gato, alongside the new characters Preecha and Vox Reaper.
SNK first announced the title at the EVO fighting game tournament in 2022, marking the franchise’s first new entry in more than two decades. The Fatal Fury series, known in Japan as Garō Densetsu, is one of SNK’s most iconic properties and the origin of characters including Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Mai Shiranui, Blue Mary, and Geese Howard. The original Fatal Fury: King of Fighters debuted in arcades in 1991, with the previous installment, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, releasing in 1999.
The franchise also inspired three anime adaptations: the 1992 OVA Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf, the 1993 OVA Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle, and the 1994 film Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture. All three feature character designs by Masami Ōbari, who also directed the third title. Discotek Media has released all three anime.
