Get ready for something fresh in the animation world: the popular webtoon Kindergarten for Divine Beasts is leaping onto TV screens with a twist—it’s being brought to life using artificial intelligence throughout the entire production process.
Set to premiere later this month on South Korea’s Anione channel (run by Daewon Broadcasting), the series follows Seo Minwoo, an everyday person who suddenly finds himself in charge of a very special kindergarten—one attended by the offspring of divine beasts. Think less crayons and storytime, more managing tiny griffins and phoenix hatchlings!
What’s really turning heads is how deeply AI is woven into this project. Daewon Broadcasting didn’t just dabble in AI for fun—they handled everything from initial planning right through to final edits, teaming up with Glitch Goblin Studio (an AI-savvy video outfit under Korea Edu Group) to make it happen. Each bite-sized 10-minute episode actually packs in two original webtoon chapters.
Here’s the cool part: the team didn’t treat AI like a simple button-pusher. Instead, they used it as a genuine creative partner, carefully guarding the webtoon’s original charm and tone while polishing the pacing, visuals, and overall flow to feel right at home on television.
A spokesperson from Daewon Broadcasting put it plainly: “This shows AI can be a practical, everyday tool in content creation—not just a lab experiment—while still delivering the quality viewers expect from broadcast TV.”
Created by writer Geul Mat and artist Mimba, the original webtoon has already captured hearts worldwide, pulling in over 4 million views since its January 2025 debut. WEBTOON sums up the premise perfectly:
Minu Seo, a struggling nobody, never thought he’d inherit anything, especially not from the mother who abandoned him. However, what he received was beyond anything he could have imagined… A kindergarten for divine beasts! Will Minu be able to look after these magical children as their new teacher?
You can catch the official English translation of the webtoon right now on WEBTOON.
