TBS’ Sand B Company Acquires Xenotoon CG Anime Studio
Studio behind Genshō Yasuda’s Make a Girl to merge with Seven Arcs in mid‑2027

Acquisition Overview
Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) Holdings’ Sand B anime planning and development company has acquired a 51 % controlling stake in 3D CG anime studio Xenotoon. This makes Xenotoon a subsidiary of Sand B. The studio’s anime director, Genshō Yasuda, created the accompanying visual (shown right) to announce the deal.
Future Integration with Seven Arcs
TBS and Sand B intend to merge Xenotoon with TBS’s own anime studio, Seven Arcs, sometime in mid‑2027.
About Xenotoon
- Founded in December 2019.
- CEO: producer Koichi Kawase.
- Best known for its collaborations with animator and director Genshō Yasuda, who produces CG shorts.
- Yasuda’s first full‑length animated work, Make a Girl, debuted as a film in January 2025 (credited in the anime as Yasuda Gensho Studio by Xenotoon).
- Xenotoon and Yasuda also produced the 3D short anime Moana to Densetsu no Umi 2.
- In July 2025, Xenotoon teamed up with the Web3 anime brand Azuki and Comisma to announce a new U.S.–based joint studio, “Studio Azuki.”
TBS and Seven Arcs Background
TBS acquired the anime studio Seven Arcs in December 2017. Seven Arcs is famed for the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise and is currently producing its latest entry, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance, set to premiere on July 4, 2026.
About Sand B
Established in May 2025 (initially tentatively named CIP), Sand B is TBS Holdings’ planning, development, and production arm focused on animation. TBS invested 30 billion yen (approximately US$207 million) to launch the company, aiming to boost revenue and accelerate global expansion through collaboration with Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS). The company’s representative is Kazuhiko Akatsu.
