Japanese streaming platform ABEMA announced on Thursday that the original anime pilot Poppin‑Play Kitchen, part of ABEMA’s Project PRISMation initiative for independent creators, will receive a sequel. The series’ creator, Thai animator Zemyata, unveiled a fresh illustration and shared a statement alongside the announcement.

As the creator of Poppin‑Play Kitchen, I’m thrilled to share the great news—we’ve been green‑lit for sequel episodes!
Words can’t fully capture my excitement and gratitude, but I’ll do my best to put it into proper sentences. Thank you to all fans of the pilot for your support, theories, and wonderful fan art. It means the world to me that this small project left a lasting impression on many.
My team and I will build on that impression. We can’t wait to show you more of this wild, colorful, confetti‑filled world!

ABEMA’s Project PRISMation has also opened its first public call for proposals. The initiative is looking for “Short Original Anime Proposals” that include “Expansion Plans” outlining the work’s future direction. There are no eligibility restrictions—anyone, regardless of professional status, age, gender, or nationality, may apply. Selected projects will receive production funding for a short original anime plus comprehensive marketing support, including promotion and commercial expansion.
The program partners with individual creators or small teams, especially those who specialize in web animation, to produce original pilot films. “PRISMation” blends “Prism” and “Animation,” symbolizing a space where diverse talents converge and shine.
The pilot episode of Poppin‑Play Kitchen debuted on January 16 and has already amassed over 2.2 million views.
The pilot’s premise is described as follows:
“Welcome back, Boys and Girls!” Step into the delightfully doll‑like world of Poppin‑Play Kitchen!
Your adorable hosts—P‑chan, C‑chan, and U‑chan—are ready to give you the culinary adventure of a lifetime!
Faced with larger‑than‑life stagehands, impossible recipes, and an invisible audience, can our charming hosts survive this bizarre cooking show? …Or will they ‘POP’ under pressure?
There’s only one way to find out: Let’s get cooking!
Creator Zemyata previously contributed to Eve’s music video for “Yoru wa Honoka.”
Other pilots released under Project PRISMation include Gluttomy by Vietnamese creator rapitus (January 23) and The Horrors’ Horror Home by Japan’s Uguisu Kobo, director Rushio Moriyama, and writer Yūya Matsuzaki (January 30).
