After a decade-long break, Japanese hip-hop trio Home Made Kazoku is officially back in the studio. The group dropped the news on their website Tuesday, confirming they’re reuniting under their longtime home Ki/oon Music—Sony Music Labels’ imprint that’s been with them since the beginning.

The announcement comes after their final show, “The Last Live,” wrapped up on December 29, 2016—which kicked off their hiatus. But fans got an early taste of their return when the group surprise-announced on April 19 that they’d be hitting summer festival stages, kicking things off at Kariya Urban Fes. 2026 To the Max on May 31.
For those needing a refresher: Home Made Kazoku is Micro on vocals, KURO on vocals, and DJ U-ICHI on the decks—all three the same age and longtime friends. Micro spent his formative years in Kentucky, while KURO called Chicago home until he was 12. Their story started in college in Aichi Prefecture, where they met and eventually debuted on a major label back on May 19, 2004.
Since then, they’ve become anime theme song regulars, lending their sound to hits like Bleach, Eureka Seven, Naruto Shippūden, and even Naruto Shippūden the Movie: Bonds. After self-releasing their first three albums between 2001 and 2004, they signed with Ki/oon Records Inc. (now Ki/oon Music) and have stayed with the label ever since—most recently dropping their 11th album, Laughin’ Road, in February 2015.
