Talent agency Galactic Productions announced Monday that veteran voice actor Tom Kane passed away from complications related to a stroke at a Kansas City, Missouri hospital. He was 64 years old.
Kane suffered a stroke in November 2020, which left him unable to speak or write, prompting his retirement from voice work.
Among his most recognizable roles, Kane voiced Professor Utonium (and HIM) in the animated series The Powerpuff Girls—though not in the anime adaptation—and brought Yoda and the series narrator to life in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He also portrayed Magneto in several Marvel titles, including the video game Marvel vs. CAPCOM 3: Fate of Two Worlds. His video‑game credits extend to Ondore in Final Fantasy XII and Antourion in Resonance of Fate. Beyond games, Kane served as an announcer for Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions, as well as for the Academy Awards.
