The official website for the TV anime adaptation of writer Hamuo and illustrator Mo‘s light‑novel series Hell Mode – The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing (Hell Mode – Yarikomi Suki no Gamer wa Hai Settei no Isekai de Musō Suru) revealed four additional cast members for its second season on Wednesday. The newcomers are:
Reiji Kawashima as Keel, a boy whose love for money knows no bounds.
Kiyono Yasuno as Sophialohne, the elven kingdom’s princess.
Hikaru Midorikawa as Volmaar, Sophialohne’s loyal guard.
Miyu Tomita as Meruru, a dwarf with an almost legendary talent for military leadership.
The second season is set to air in July.
Earlier, the staff announced that Takahiro Sakurai will return as Helmios for the new season.
The first season premiered on TV on January 9 at 25:05 (effectively January 10 at 1:05 a.m.) on MBS, later moving to BS NTV on January 11 at midnight. It also debuted on ABEMA and d Anime Store at 25:35 (January 10 1:35 a.m.) and streamed on U‑NEXT and Anime Hōdai from January 12. HIDIVE offered a simultaneous English dub, and the series continues to be available with an English dub as of March.
Directed by Masato Tamagawa (Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō, The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, The Great Cleric) at Yokohama Animation Lab, with series scripts by Daishiro Tanimura (Magical Destroyers) and character designs by Kei Tsushima (The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These). The music team includes Misaki Tsuchida, Moyu Kanazaki, Junko Nakajima, Kanade Sakuma, Reiko Abe, Kaho Sawada, BeauDamian, and Tsugumi Tanaka.
The opening theme “Haku” was performed by the band Atarayo, while the ending “Sanctuary” was sung by Kaya.
Hamuo originally launched the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō site in November 2019; it remains ongoing. Earth Star Entertainment began publishing the light novels in July 2020.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Tetta, started serialization in Comic Earth Star in October 2020.
