GATE 2: Tides of Conflict Anime Unveils New Visual, Vocaloid Event Collaboration for Ending Song
Winning submission for VOCALOID Collection Summer 2026 will be anime’s ending song.
New Key Visual Revealed
Anime platform Oshi unveiled a new key visual for GATE 2: Tides of Conflict, the sequel to the television anime based on Takumi Yanai‘s light novel series Gate: Jiei-tai Ka no Chi ni te, Kaku Tatakaeri (GATE: The Self-Defense Forces Fight Like This in Another Land).
VOCALOID Collaboration for Ending Song
The staff announced a collaboration with the VOCALOID Collection Summer 2026 event. The anime’s ending theme song will be chosen from the winning submission to this worldwide event. While entries will use Vocaloid synthesized voices, the winning track will later be re‑recorded with a new vocalist selected through a separate partnership with the Utaite Collection event in fall 2026.
Anime Expo Presence
The series will also have a presence at the Oshi booth during Anime Expo, where production materials will be on display.
Premiere Date
The anime is set to premiere on television in 2027.
Fan Engagement via Oshi Platform
Fans can actively contribute to the anime’s production through the Oshi platform, which aims to unite creators, licensees, and fans in a single ecosystem. The service offers exclusive behind‑the‑scenes content, promotes clear and equitable collaboration between IP owners and licensees, and provides worldwide accessibility. Oshi is currently in a soft launch phase.

Light Novel Background
Takumi Yanai‘s light novel GATE SEASON2 Jieitai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri serves as a sequel to his original Gate: Jiei-tai Ka no Chi ni te, Kaku Tatakaeri series. The sequel consists of five volumes released between 2017 and 2020, with a new bunkoban edition (also five volumes) published from 2020 to 2022, illustrated by Kurojishi.

Manga Adaptations
The original story was serialized on the Arcadia website from 2006 to 2009. AlphaPolis published it in print as five volumes plus five side story volumes from 2010 to 2015. These novels inspired the first television anime, which debuted in 2015, followed by a second season in 2016. Both seasons were streamed by Crunchyroll and released on home video by Sentai Filmworks.
Satoru Sao launched a manga adaptation on AlphaPolis’ website in 2011, concluding it in September 2025. Although Sekai Project once planned to publish the manga, it canceled the release in 2021. AlphaPolis now distributes the manga in English. After finishing the first manga, Sao began a manga adaptation of GATE 2.
Prequel Novel and Manga
Yanai also authored a two‑volume prequel series titled GATE 0, released in December 2021 and August 2022. A manga adaptation of this prequel, created by Ryohichi Saitaniya, debuted on AlphaPolis’ website in March 2024 and remains ongoing.
