Marvel Games, PlayStation Studios, and Arc System Works unveiled new details for the 4v4 tag-team fighter Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls during a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday. The announcement trailer confirmed Phoenix Cyclops as the game’s first DLC character, included in the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass, with a debut planned for this fall.
Ray Chase, who voices Cyclops in the X-Men ’97 animated series, will voice Phoenix Cyclops. The companies also premiered the game’s opening movie, directed by Daisuke Suzuki and animated by studio SANZIGEN.
The original theme song “Stronger One” will be performed by Keiko Terada of SHOW-YA and mayu of NEMOPHILA. Kanata Okajima wrote the lyrics, while MEG (MEGMETAL) composed and arranged the track.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on August 6, with a Japanese release set for August 7. An open beta runs on PS5 and PC from July 24 to 26, and July 24 to 27 in Japan.
The Ultimate Edition includes pre-order bonuses, five character costumes, animated chromatic colors unlocked for all 20 launch characters, and a Year One pass covering four characters and one stage. Launch characters include Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Star-Lord, Storm, Wolverine, Magik, Danger, Doctor Doom, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, Magneto, Goblin, Carnage, and Ghost.
