Kadokawa announced Friday that a TV anime adaptation of Tōru Himuka‘s manga The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom has been officially green‑lit.
To celebrate the news, Himuka shared a special illustration:
Koichiro Kuroda—known for episode directing on Detective Conan and Yowamushi Pedal New Generation—will helm the series at Studio Elle. The scripts are being handled by Risa Mizuno, who works under the pen name Aki Mizuki (her credits include Dayan to Tama to Tobi Neko to: Mittsu no Neko no Monogatari, Arknights: Perish in Frost, and Sylvanian Families: Mini Story). Character designs are being crafted by Akira Ono, chief animation director of My Awkward Senpai. Hozumi Gōda will direct the sound, while Shiho Terada (known for work on several Precure titles, Leviathan: The Last Defense, and the upcoming Magic Knight Rayearth remake) will compose the music alongside Highway Star.

Seven Seas publishes the manga in English. Their official synopsis reads:
The Moon Flower Kingdom’s famed medicinal baths have never been more prosperous—until Crown Prince Keiun’s regional inspection. In front of his eyes, a young girl named Koyō performs a jaw‑dropping “suture surgery.” Amid swirling conspiracies, superstitions, and deep‑rooted traditions, doctor Koyō and Prince Keiun team up with loyal friends to tackle the kingdom’s greatest challenges in this Chinese‑style imperial medical fantasy.
Himuka began serializing the series in Kadokawa’s Asuka magazine back in 2018. Kadokawa is set to release volume 15 on May 22, while Seven Seas will bring out volume 13 on June 23.
