Nagisa Furuya’s The Summer of You Boys-Love Manga Gets Live-Action Series

Series Streams Early in Japan on June 24, Airs on TV Tokyo on July 1

TV Tokyo announced Saturday that Nagisa Furuya’s boys‑love manga The Summer of You will receive a live‑action adaptation. The drama will be available for early streaming on the U‑NEXT platform in Japan starting June 24, with its broadcast debut on TV Tokyo’s “Drama NEXT” block on July 1.

Cast Reveal

The production team posted a “Making‑of” video featuring the main actors. The series stars Tomoya Oku as Wataru Toda (left) and Kazuto Mokudai as Chiharu Saeki (right).

Story Synopsis (Kodansha USA)

Chiharu Saeki and Wataru Toda are high‑school friends who share a love of movies. When Chiharu confesses his feelings, Wataru says he isn’t bothered—yet the summer they spend together at iconic film locations slowly reveals that his indifference may be masking his own growing affection.
