Nintendo Raises Switch 2 Prices Across Multiple Regions
Nintendo announced on Friday that it will adjust the suggested retail prices of the Switch 2 console in Japan, Europe, the United States and Canada, citing changes in market conditions and the global business outlook.

Price Changes by Region
- United States: from US$449.99 to US$499.99
- Canada: from CAD$629.99 to CAD$679.99
- Europe: from €469.99 to €499.99 (via the My Nintendo Store)
- Japan (Japanese‑language System): from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980
- Japan (Multi‑Language System): remains at ¥69,980 (no change)
Effective Dates
- Japan: May 25, 2026
- United States, Canada, Europe: September 1, 2026
Other Nintendo Price Adjustments
- Switch OLED Model (Japan): ¥37,980 → ¥47,980, effective July 1
- Standard Switch (Japan): ¥32,978 → ¥43,980, effective July 1
- Switch Lite (Japan): ¥21,978 → ¥29,980, effective July 1
- Nintendo Switch Online: price revisions planned for South Korea
- Playing cards and Hanafuda/Kabufuda cards in Japan will also see price increases
Sales Context
The Switch 2 launched worldwide on June 5, 2025 and had sold 19.86 million units by March 31, 2026.
The original Switch, released in March 2017, reached 155.92 million units sold by March 31, 2026, surpassing the Nintendo DS lifetime sales (154.02 million) to become Nintendo’s best‑selling console of all time. It now ranks second overall, behind only the PlayStation 2.
