English Version Launched on Wednesday
Manga UP! Global has released the English edition of Akira’s manga adaptation of Aoi’s series The Cruel King I’m Marrying as a Substitute Bride Is My First Love?! (Japanese title: Migawari de Totsuida Reikoku Kokuō wa Hatsukoi Aite Deshita) on Wednesday.
Manga UP! describes the story as follows:
Twenty‑eight‑year‑old Kanae Yano is single and boyfriend‑less when she is suddenly summoned to another world. There she meets Duke Zach Skrein and his daughter Rita, a noblewoman who looks exactly like her. The duo begs Kanae to pose as Rita and marry the feared King Eugene Eistalotte—the “Cold‑Hearted Wolf.” Since the summoning magic can’t return her home, Kanae reluctantly agrees. When she finally meets the King, however, she discovers his true identity, sparking a fantasy romance that reunites her with a first love.
Akira began serializing the manga adaptation on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform in March 2025, and Square Enix released the third volume on 7 April 2025.
Aoi originally launched the web novel on the TellerNovel platform in October 2021.
