Hey manga fans – here’s an update you’ll want to know about. The June issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine just dropped some news: Naru Narumi’s Norainu to Tenshi-chan (Stray Dog and Angel) is taking a little break and shifting over to Yanmaga Web. Don’t worry, it’s not ending – the series will pick up again with chapter 10 on the web platform. In fact, chapter 9 in this very issue is the last one we’ll see in the print magazine for now. The magazine’s official X/Twitter account will let us know exactly when the hiatus ends and the web version launches, so keep an eye out for that announcement.
So what’s this story about? It follows Tōji, a 20-year-old who kinda blew up after a certain incident and now just wants to fly under the radar. To avoid drawing attention, he’s been picking up low-key part-time jobs where he doesn’t have to interact with too many people. While working at a supermarket, he helps out a customer and ends up meeting Sakuya – a girl with an incredible ability called Super Eye. Basically, she’s got a memory like a steel trap and can recall details most of us would forget in a second. But that gift hasn’t made school life easy for her; she’s struggled to fit in there. These two, both feeling like they don’t quite belong in their own worlds, end up becoming roommates. It’s a quiet, character-driven story about finding connection when you feel out of step with everyone else.
Narumi first launched this series in Monthly Young Magazine back in June 2025, and Kodansha just released the second compiled volume on April 20. If you’re curious about the creator’s other work, Narumi is also known for Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san (you might know it as Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles), which started in Takeshobo’s Manga Life Storia magazine in 2013. After that magazine ceased publication in 2019, the manga moved to the Storia Dash website. Fun fact: Dark Horse Comics is publishing it in English, and it even inspired both a TV anime (which premiered in January 2018 and was streamed by Crunchyroll) and a live-action drama series that ran from 2015 through 2020 with several specials. Narumi also created Watari-kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse, which ran in Kadokawa’s Young Ace and later Monthly Young Magazine before wrapping up in September 2023. That one’s also getting an anime adaptation set to premiere in July 2025, with Crunchyroll handling the streaming.
