Resident Evil Requiem Gets Post‑Game “Leon Must Die Forever” Mode
CAPCOM rolled out a free update on Friday for Resident Evil Requiem (also known as Biohazard Requiem) that adds a brand‑new post‑game challenge called “Leon Must Die Forever.” The company shared a teaser video showcasing the mode.
What the New Mode Offers
- Accessible only after completing the main story.
- Run‑based gameplay using the same levels but with tougher enemies and bosses.
- Five additional, harder difficulty settings.
- Time‑limit pressure for each run.
- New “enhancement gauge” that fills by defeating foes, letting Leon activate powerful “enhancer abilities.”
- Both the sequence of levels and the enhancer abilities are randomized on each run.
Game Details & Release History
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). CAPCOM announced on March 16 that the title has surpassed 6 million units sold worldwide.
The story follows protagonist Grace Ashcroft, while Leon Kennedy appears as a secondary playable character. Grace’s sections emphasize classic survival‑horror, whereas Leon’s segments deliver a more action‑focused experience reminiscent of Resident Evil 4.
Series Context
The game was first revealed in June 2025 as a tonal shift for the franchise. Earlier entries Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village received Switch 2 ports on February 27, and the “Resident Evil Generation Pack” for Switch 2 bundles all three titles. Resident Evil 7 originally launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC in January 2017, later receiving PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades, as well as a cloud version for the Nintendo Switch.
