Setting & Story Overview
The game spans several pivotal moments in modern Japanese history, taking players to:
- Kokura, Fukuoka – 1915
- Kure, Hiroshima – 1929
- Minami, Osaka – 1943
- Atami, Shizuoka – 1951
- Kamurocho (fictional, based on Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo) – 1965
SEGA describes the narrative as a “50‑year saga of those with nowhere to go and their desperate struggle to find a home.” The protagonist, Makoto Daito, is a biracial boy born in San Francisco (1915). After his parents die, he sails to Japan, only to discover that his Pacific crossing is far from a free ride and will alter his destiny forever.
