Inti Creates describes the Switch 2 edition as follows:

In addition to high‑frame‑rate and higher‑resolution support, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition introduces a new story mode called “Azure Striker Gunvolt GX.” Players team up Gunvolt and Copen, wielding fresh weapons and abilities. The mode also adds an “Inspiration” system that rewards timely hero swaps with gameplay bonuses and extra score.

Owners of the existing Switch version can purchase a paid upgrade pack, and the studio is considering a DLC release of the new story mode for other platforms.

A demo of the GX story mode will be available at the Bit Summit event this weekend.

The trilogy pack originally launched on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in July 2025.

The collection features “Live Novel” dialogue that runs during missions without pausing the action, 37 tracks performed by the “Muses,” and full voice acting (the first two games retain Japanese voices only).

The original Azure Striker Gunvolt debuted in North America on the Nintendo 3DS in August 2014. Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 arrived on the 3DS in Japan (August 2016) and North America (September 2016), later appearing on Switch (August 2017) and PS4 (April 2020). The sequel also launched on PC via Steam in June 2020.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 released on Switch in July 2022 and on Xbox One/Series X|S in August 2022, followed by a PC Steam release in October 2022.

Inti Creates announced an anime adaptation of the series at Anime Expo in July 2016, and the show debuted on the Nintendo eShop in February 2017.
